Thanks to everyone who came to our ‘Try Climbing’ days.
We loved meeting the different local youth groups/organisations who had pre-booked exclusive sessions on Friday 19th August. Seeing the determination and sense of achievement, whether reaching the top or making it past a previous personal best, was brilliant to see.
We were disappointed to have to cancel the Saturday event due to a weather forecast of heavy rain and a yellow warning of thunder, but it was fantastic to meet everyone Sunday & hear the excitement about The Arc opening in Spring next year.
Thanks to our partners, The Climbing Academy, for helping to make the event such a success. Thanks also to The Wiltshire Outdoor Learning Team for running the wall and to Just on the Hoof and The Ice Queen for providing delicious treats for everyone to enjoy.
We had a great time working with TCA staff preparing and running the whole event – with over 900 climbs on the mobile wall over the weekend it was certainly popular. The TCA ‘Hang Bar Challenge’, with the chance to win a month’s membership of The Arc, created a fabulous buzz.
TCA announced the amazing winners of their Hang Bar Challenge saying,
“Connor pipped Bede’s remarkable 5mins and 1 second, by 7 seconds to win the under 16s, while Wesley jumped to the top of the adult leader board, hanging for 3 minutes”.
Connor, Wesley and raffle winner Bryn (chosen at random from entrants to the Hang Bar Challenge) each got the chance to choose from a solo, family or couples month pass for TCA at the Bristol centres or saved up until The Arc opens.
If you weren’t able to attend then you may be interested in the special climbing offers for Chippenham residents that TCA shared at the event – you can find out more then here.
Finally – there are just a few days left to apply for the Head Chef and Cafe Manager positions at The Arc. Have a look at the job descriptions below & apply by Sunday 5th September:
